Virtual Assistant
"An independent contractor providing administrative, technical, or sometimes creative assistance to clients, usually to other independent entrepreneurs and solo and small business practices, such as that of a lawyer or realtor. Virtual assistants work from their own office (hence 'virtual'), thus making it a fairly popular (and growing) profession. It is estimated that there are about 5-8,000 virtual assistants worldwide.
Common modes of communication and data delivery include the Internet, FTP, and fax machine. Although the occupation gives a degree of independence, work is on a contractual basis, and a long-lasting cooperation is standard. Typically 5 years of administrative experience in an office is expected at such positions as executive assistant, secretary, legal assistant, paralegal, legal secretary, real estate assistant, or office manager."

About Me
Sales administration clerk by day, virtual assistant by night, and mother of three 24/7.
My Background
I have been designing web sites since 1995, learning the ins and outs of HTML, CSS, and template design. In 2000, I moved out west to Arizona and started working for a major credit card processing center, perfecting my administrative skills in Word, Excel, Publisher, etc. In 2004, I moved back home to Kansas and opened a virtual assistant web site to have the opportunity to stay at home with my children for a while. In 2006, I went to work for a major yellow page company in the Sales Administration department, keeping close tabs on more than 100 sales representatives across 11 states. In this position, running reports, creating spreadsheets, sending memos and newsletters, maintaining our Intranet web site, making travel arrangements, and event planning are every day occurances, along with many other tasks. My ability to organize and multi-task not only my own schedule, but multiple other schedules grows with each passing day.
